Band Directors Letter

Hello, Sahuaro Bands!

I hope you’re all ready for an amazing year full of performances, rehearsals, and a few extra special events that we have planned for you all.  Building off of last year, this year we are going to have many more events where we focus on the community around us.  We are very fortunate to live in an area that is so supportive of us, so this year we are going to thank those around us by doing what we do best-performing!

Starting off the year before it even starts, we have some great new opportunities for the members of the Sahuaro Cougar Marching Band, including several competitions around the state and a mass band performance before the August 29th Arizona Diamondbacks game in Phoenix.

As for the concert bands, this focus of community is going to be taken a step further with volunteer opportunities which will benefit those in need in our community, as well as a special performance at Diamond Children’s medical center during the holiday season.

The jazz band, as in the past, will have several performance opportunities here at Sahuaro this year, as well as a few performances off campus.

This year is truly a turning point for the band program.  I cannot wait to take this journey with all of you!  Prepare to see growth in yourself not only as a musician, but also as a person.  Our band family is strong and will continue to gain strength in the coming years.

Happy Practicing!
